AMA Recap: CRYPTO MINERS X ASTAR NETWORK

Astar Network is a dApp hub on Polkadot that supports Ethereum, WebAssembly, and layer 2 solutions like ZK Rollups. Astar aims to be a multi-chain smart contract platform that will support multiple blockchains and virtual machines. Polkadot Relay Chain doesn’t support smart contracts. That’s why it’s important for the ecosystem to have a parachain that enables this for all developers who want to build in the Polkadot ecosystem. Astar is here to provide the best solution for all developers by supporting EVM and making a parachain where EVM and WASM smart contracts can co-exist and communicate with each other. How it is playing its role in Multi chain smart contracts?

Astar Network is a smart contract parachain on Polkadot. Because Polkadot doesn’t support smart contract by design, a parachain is needed to offer infrastructure to builders who want to utilize the power of Polkadot.

We support the building of dApps with EVM and WASM smart contracts and offers developers true interoperability, with cross-consensus messaging (XCM). We are made by developers and for developers. Astar’s unique Build2Earn model empowers developers to get paid through a dApp staking mechanism for the code they write and dApps they build.

1)You mentioned that,X-VM and dapp staking features are the 2 particularly important features of Astar to become an ecosystem for smart contracts on Polkadot.
Can you briefly mention about what does X-VM & dapp staking refer to,and how a user can make use of them for their gains?

Regarding X-VM, this stands for Cross Virtual Machine. What this means is that we designed a library where an EVM or Solidiy smart contract and interact with a WASM smart contract in the same environment. So we will not only have interoperability between chains but also between different languages of smart contract.

Multichain support and interoperability has become an essentiality currently.
So, is Astar focused only on polkadot,or does it have any plans to expand to other ecosystems too?

We build an infrastructure for dApp developers who want to build on and utilize Polkadot. We do have bridges to other ecosystems like, Ethereum, Cosmos, Polygon, Binance Smart Chain, and other L1 Blockchains.

I see that Astar Network has three tokens. So what is the need of three tokens. What are their utilities?

We indeed have 3 tokens, 2 are from our mainnets.
We have $ASTR — Astar Network — connected to Polkadot
We have $SDN — Shiden Network — connected to Kusama (this is our canary network)
Last one is $SBY but this is a testnet token, so no value!

4) Vin Hnyuh:
NFT hype is now just insane. What do you think about the current and future of the NFT space? Is Astar able to support projects working with NFTs and its technologies?

Maarten | Astar:
Astar Network is born in Japan and working very close with Japanese government regarding Web3 accaleration in Japan but also working very close with big IP’s in Japan, for example Manga artists. One of our advisor and investor was former CEO of Sony, so you can expect great things in the NFT space in the future 😊
